EPPP prep checklist

We know you have a lot on your plate as you seek licensure to practice psychology. To help you manage your to-do list, we’ve created this checklist for the EPPP exams within the licensure process  that will keep you on track to meet your professional goals.

Determine if you have met the requirements within your licensing authority to apply for licensure.

You can visit ASPPB’s The Centre at Snapshot – ASPPB The Centre

Or, you can contact your licensing authority directly to determine if you have met all requirements for licensure in your licensing authority.

If you have completed all requirements, apply for licensure with the appropriate licensing authority.

You must receive approval to register for the EPPP from your licensing authority.

Your licensing authority will enter your authorization to sit for the exam into the EPPP registration system.

Once your licensing authority enters you into the EPPP registration system, you will receive an automated email. Follow the link within the email to begin your registration process.

Follow all steps within the EPPP registration system to complete the registration process.

NOTE: If you have a disability and require special testing accommodations, you must request and receive approval for special accommodations from your licensing authority before registering to take the examination. Accommodations cannot be added to an exam after it is scheduled.

Once you are ready to schedule your exam, you will pay the exam fee and Pearson VUE sit fee within the registration system.

You will receive a confirmation email and Authorization to Test.

NOTE: All fees are NON-REFUNDABLE. Refunds are not given for any reason. Do not complete the payment process until you are ready to sit for and schedule an exam. Cancellations will not result in a refund once you schedule your exam.

Once the payment process is complete, follow the link to Pearson VUE to schedule the EPPP.

Within 24 hours of scheduling your exam, you will receive an email confirmation of your testing appointment from Pearson VUE. If you do not receive the appointment confirmation, call Pearson VUE at 800-513-6910.

At the testing center, you will be required to provide two valid forms of acceptable ID. If you do not provide acceptable IDs, you will not be permitted to test, and your registration and sitting fees will be forfeited.  Pearson VUE ID Policy.

Take the EPPP and receive your unofficial score report at the test center immediately after you complete the exam. Retain this report for your records – it cannot be duplicated!

*Your licensing authority will receive your official score report within 5 business days.

*Your score will be visible in your profile in the registration system.

If you fail the EPPP (Part 1-Knowledge), your licensing authority may approve you to retake the exam. Licensing authorities vary in how often they allow candidates to take the EPPP.  However, no Candidate is allowed to take the EPPP more than 4 times in a rolling 12-month period.

If your licensing authority also requires its licensure applicants to pass the EPPP (Part 2-Skills), you will be assigned another workflow in the registration system.

Once you are ready to schedule your EPPP (Part 2-Skills), complete the steps within the new workflow, purchase, and schedule with Pearson just as you did for the EPPP (Part 1-Knowledge).

If you fail the EPPP (Part 2-Skills), your licensing authority may approve you to retake the exam. Licensing authorities vary in how often they allow candidates to take the EPPP.  However, no Candidate is allowed to take the EPPP more than 4 times in a rolling 12-month period.

Once you have passed both parts of the EPPP, communicate with your licensing authority on how to proceed.
