About us

The Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB) was launched in 1961 by the American Psychological Association. One of ASPPB’s first missions was to improve the ability of psychologists in the United States and Canada to maintain their ability to practice when moving from one region to another. ASPPB acted deliberately and thoroughly to establish a standard examination for licensure that all aspiring psychologists would take to qualify for practice.

Over time, the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP) was adopted by all 66 jurisdictions in the ASPPB alliance. Today, ASPPB’s role has grown to encompass exam, licensure, and certificate administration, professional database hosting, toolkits, model legislation, research, and advocacy that serve licensing boards, practicing psychologists, and consumers.
