ASPPB Announces Content Specifications for the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP)® Operational in Fall of 2027

The Exam Blueprint Stems from Extensive Collaborative Efforts, including Job Task Analysis of Psychology Practice and Input from Multiple Psychology Constituencies
The Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB)® announces the content specifications for the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology® (EPPP®) to be operational in the Fall of 2027 and forward. In December 2025, the Association’s Board of Directors approved the rollout of this content blueprint, the result of more than a year of close collaboration among ASPPB and various stakeholders.
Following extensive consultation and feedback from numerous stakeholders, in 2024, the ASPPB Board of Directors took responsibility for directing the evolution of the EPPP into an integrated competency examination that assesses both knowledge and skills in a single examination. In 2025, ASPPB launched a Job Task Analysis to develop the blueprint for this new integrated licensing examination. Based on input from almost 3,000 licensed psychologists in the United States and Canada, the resulting blueprint serves as the basis for an integrated competency examination, the next step in the ongoing development of the EPPP.
ASPPB’s current publication of the content scope for the integrated EPPP provides the education and training community and the candidates with sufficient time to be informed about the new EPPP format. This content scope will apply to the integrated EPPP, which will be beta-tested in Spring 2027 and operationally administered starting in Fall 2027.
The EPPP (Part 1-Knowledge) and the EPPP (Part 2-Skills) that are administered in 2026 and 2027 will use their respective blueprints as published.
The Integrated EPPP Operational Timeline: 2026, 2027, and Forward
The establishment of the EPPP content blueprint is a milestone that required extensive planning, meetings, input, and analysis by ASPPB and its stakeholders. Now the work continues as follows:
