ASPPB Achieves Extraordinary Response to Call for Volunteers

ASPPB thanks licensed/registered psychologists for volunteering for the Examination and Item Development Committees
The Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB)® thanks the hundreds of licensed/registered psychologists who answered our recent call to serve on the Item Development Committee (IDC) and the Examination Committee (ExC) for the integrated Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP)®.
“We are incredibly grateful to all of the professionals who responded to our call and took the online survey about their professional and demographic background,” said Dr. Hao Song, ASPPB Associate Executive Officer of Examination Services and Committee on Exam Coordination (CEC) Chair. “This is a unique opportunity for well-versed academics, researchers, and practicing psychologists to contribute to the future of psychology. Their time commitment will be as rewarding and significant as their contributions.”
Next Steps
The applications for the IDC and ExC will now be reviewed by the CEC and approved by the ASPPB Board of Directors (BOD). In making recommendations to the ASPPB Board, the CEC will consider a variety of factors, including subject-matter expertise needs, diversity considerations, geographic representation, and other relevant factors.
The submissions included expressions of interest from licensed/registered psychologists across all career stages who represent work, demographic, and professional diversity for committee service. ASPPB’s call was targeted to individuals with experience and expertise in one or more of the domains to be assessed by the integrated EPPP: (1) Scientific Orientation to Practice, (2) Assessment, (3) Intervention, (4) Consultation and Supervision, (5) Interpersonal Relationships, and (6) Ethical and Professional Practice.
About the Item Development Committee (IDC)
Item Development Committee members are charged with training, collaborating with, and helping recruit item writers in the creation of items for the EPPP. The committee will comprise approximately 11 members who have demonstrated subject-matter expertise in one or more of the content areas measured by the EPPP. Competitive candidates appointed to the IDC will be members of the field who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence through their professional accomplishments.
About the Exam Committee (ExC)
Exam Committee members are charged with reviewing and finalizing the exam forms for the integrated EPPP prior to their administration. The committee will comprise approximately 11 members who have demonstrated subject-matter expertise in one or more of the content areas measured by the EPPP. Competitive candidates appointed to the ExC will be members of the field who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence through their professional accomplishments and experience with credentialing assessment.
ASPPB is the alliance of state, provincial, and territorial agencies responsible for the licensure and certification of psychologists throughout the United States and Canada. The EPPP is provided to state and provincial boards/colleges of examiners in psychology to assist them in evaluating the knowledge/skills applicants should have to be licensed or certified. It is considered the state-of-the-art examination for professional licensure in psychology.
